Fitness to Dive / Snorkel

Overview

Occupational Health are responsible for health monitoring programs covering all high-risk activity here at KAUST; Dive and Snorkeling included. As part of this, users are required to be evaluated for medical fitness to ensure their safety when operating in the field.

Scientific Divers

Scientific Divers require the following certificates.

These certificates are mandatory. Failure to obtain / renew will prevent participation in diving-based fieldwork.

Scientific Snorkelers

Scientific Snorkelers require the following certificates.

This certificate is mandatory. Failure to obtain / renew will prevent participation in snorkel-based fieldwork.

Return to Work after Illness or Injury

If a diver/snorkeler suffers injury or illness, especially those which effects mechanisms critical to diving (i.e. sinus, ear, respiratory), they must notify Occupational Health for evaluation before returning to work.
