The Health, Safety and Environment Department (HSE) Environmental Stewardship Champion is awarded each year in recognition of sustained Operational Excellence in Environmental Protection. The aim is to foster a culture and operational practices that value good and responsible environmental management.
As part of KAUSTs 'social license' to operate, the criteria not only include compliance with HSE environmental procedural requirements, but extend to continuous improvement and overall environmental reasonability. Departments and individual service lines within the scope of the KAUSTs internationally certified ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System and beyond are automatically nominated.
Exceptional performance in environmental audits;
No environmental incidents and/or prompt close-out of any environmental incidents;
Full compliance with environmental training targets;
Active engagement in environmental meetings;
Self-reporting of environmental performance and incidents;
Implementation of new ideas and innovation.
The award was established in 2018 and is KAUST HSE highest environmental honor. The gifted keepsake is emblazoned with vivid livery of KAUST from high above King Abdullah Monument. The awardee’s department or service line is featured on an engraving plate. Questions? Please contact environmentmatters@kaust.edu.sa
