HSE-KRTP Tenants Workshop
If you work in a lab, workshop, or office environment, this interactive half-day Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Awareness Workshop is designed for you. Hosted by KAUST HSE in partnership with Tenant Affairs, it brings KRTP tenants together to learn about available HSE resources and requirements.
The session covers key topics such as:
• Workplace Health & Safety basics
• Environmental controls
• Lab research safety
• Emergency preparedness
Join us to enhance your HSE awareness and contribute to a safer KAUST community.
KRTP bridges cutting-edge research with commercial innovation, creating an environment where technology and entrepreneurship can thrive. HSE supports this vision by serving as a strategic partner to all KRTP tenants, providing regulatory guidance, environmental support, incident response coordination, and proactive safety oversight to protect people, the environment, and the broader KAUST research community.
Beyond compliance, HSE champions sustainable operations within KRTP, from waste minimization initiatives to energy efficiency programs aligned with KAUST’s environmental goals.
Tenants are partners, not just clients. HSE engages collaboratively, offering site visits, tailored guidance sessions, and direct liaison support throughout your KRTP tenancy.
The HSE Plan is the tenant’s primary tool for identifying hazards associated with its operations and defining the controls needed to manage them safely. It sets out site-specific practices, training requirements, PPE, waste disposal procedures, and emergency response arrangements, and serves as the basis for training all personnel working within the tenant facility. The Plan must be kept current and tailored to the tenant’s actual activities at KRTP.
Tenants are responsible for fully completing the applicable sections of the Plan, obtaining executive sign-off, and putting it into active practice within their facilities.
Laboratories and workshops are required to complete the entire HSE Plan; office-based tenant areas need only complete the cover page (tenant information and executive sign-off section).
All individuals working within the tenant facility — staff, students, and sub-contractors alike — must be trained on the HSE Plan and any relevant tenant-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) before commencing work.
The HSE Plan must be reviewed no less than once per year to confirm it remains current and accurate.
Any change in tenant operations that introduces new hazards or risks requires a corresponding update to the Plan, independent of the annual review cycle.
A current copy of the HSE Plan must be maintained within the tenant facility where it can be readily referenced by personnel and emergency responders.
Prior to departure, tenants must remove all materials and waste, properly dispose of any hazardous substances, and leave the area clean and safe for the next occupant.
Tenants and their sub-contractors must comply with all applicable HSE policies, procedures, laws, permits, and approvals relevant to their operations at KRTP.
