Welcome to the Fire Extinguisher training course, which is offered to community members and facilitated by the KAUST Fire Department.
Attendance criteria
Nomination to be a Fire Warden from your Building/section manager.
Good communication skills in the English language for students attending this course, as the assessment is a pass-or-fail written exam.
The course length will be approximately 2 to 3 hours dependent on class size and is held at KAUST Fire departments training facilities.
Course Content
In this course, you will be trained on how to safely use a Fire extinguisher by our experienced Fire team in a practical scenario. You will also receive fire safety technical classroom input, which includes:
classes of fire.
types of extinguishers and their use.
actions by community members in the event of discovering a fire.
Assessment
This is an assessable course.
You will be assessed during and after the training, including 20 questions in a written test. A score of 15 or better and full completion of all of the training elements will facilitate a pass and the student can then receive the training certificate.
This training course does not currently have a refresher element, this can be achieved by in-house training.

Nonattendance without informing the Fire department will disqualify this person from future training courses. Permission for any further attendance on future Fire training courses will then be needed to be gained directly from Deputy Fire Chief Nicholas D. Cheatle, as part of our procedure for managing non-attendance of Fire training courses and to help limit time wasting of KAUST resources.
