Emergency Notifications on the KAUSTCentral App

Published in 24 September, 2024

Dear KAUST Community,

To better serve our community, Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) in collaboration with KAUST Smart, developed new emergency features now available on the KAUSTCentral app and include dissemination of emergency notifications via KAUSTCentral.

Emergency notifications will consist of a pop-up message associated with a distinct sound. The sound can be muted while reading the message. The pop-up message needs to be acknowledged to close the message. This feature is only used for emergencies and strictly controlled.

We strongly encourage all KAUST Community members to follow these steps:

1. Download the KAUSTCentral app by scanning this QR code with your phone:

2. Log in to the KAUSTCentral app using your KAUST Login credentials or a KAUSTCentral Login account with a linked KAUST ID. See instructions to create a KAUSTCentral login

3. Enable “Critical Alerts” on your iOS or Android phone to get notified. See instructions to enable emergency notifications / critical alerts

Additional resources available as part of the emergency feature include:

  • Direct call feature to KAUST 911You can now call KAUST 911 directly from the KAUSTCentral app by tapping the 911 icon at the top right of any screen while using the app. KAUST 911 can also be reached by calling +966128080911 from a mobile phone. Please note that if dialing 911 directly from a mobile phone, the call will go to the Makkah Regional Government 911 center, not KAUST 911.
  • Emergency Action Guide: Provides action steps for specific emergencies like fire or flooding.
  • Useful Contact List: Lists important on-call contact numbers for various KAUST Departments. All contact numbers are linked and can be dialed directly by tapping on the linked number.
  • Emergency Kit: Lists essential items to take on field trips into the desert or remote areas.

Thank you for Keeping KAUST Safe.
