When working with or around hazards, your first line of defense is using engineering controls, such as fume hoods and biosafety cabinets. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is your last line of defense against potential hazards. If you need information about the type of PPE or have questions about its use, please get in touch with the Research Safety Team (RST) at hse@kaust.edu.sa for assistance.
At KAUST, the minimum level of PPE usage is defined in the Personal Protective Equipment Standard for KAUST Laboratories program document. This document only establishes a recommended baseline level and Labs may institute a higher level if they wish to do so.
Further details on PPE can be found under Industrial Hygiene. Read More
Their risk assessment must be documented (with Research Safety Team approval) and entered into their Lab Safety Plan.
